6. Mistakes to avoid
PPE is the last line of defence against asbestos risks. However, even when correctly chosen and maintained, PPE must not make you forget that you must comply with general principles of prevention. These principles are both organizational (limiting co-activity around dust sources, preparing asbestos-contaminated surfaces by wetting, site supervision by the airlock guard or airlock-man) and technical (giving priority to suction rather than sweeping, fogging suspended fibers, dust extraction at source). If you fail to comply, you may be held criminally liable.
