The OHSAS 18001 standard

Like all management standards, OHSAS 18001 is based on the principle of continuous improvement. OHSAS 18001 imposes a recurring process of enriching practices in order to achieve improvements in overall occupational health and safety performance.

It is a system standard, not a performance standard: it does not set quantitative values to be respected, but only requirements for practices.
