6. Innovative solutions
Composting serves two main purposes. First, it treats organic matter through decomposition, which stabilizes the waste, reduces its volume, and minimizes nuisances such as odors. Second, it produces a high-quality organic soil amendment that complies with regulations and meets users’ needs. Depending on the decomposition process, composting can be aerobic or anaerobic.
