5.1 Processes

Obtaining water that meets specific specifications and/or regulatory constraints before use or discharge requires the implementation of a number of chemical, physico-chemical, physical and mechanical processes and associated equipment.

The field is very similar to that of chemical plants, which transform matter chemically, biologically or physically, and whose technologies come under the heading of chemical engineering (CE) or process engineering (PE).
