The vegetation associated with vineyards is diversified both in time and space, as a result of viticultural practices and their interactions with the pedoclimate. Taxonomic and functional knowledge of this vegetation is essential for the appropriate management of vineyard plots, in order to reduce the use of inputs and tillage and maximize the services this vegetation can provide.

As agronomists, ecologists and botanists, we support the idea that the integration of plant cover, whether sown or spontaneous, represents a promising approach to meeting current challenges in viticulture, particularly those linked to climate change and the reduction of phytosanitary inputs.
