Classified facilities are those whose activities may have a potential impact on the environment. However, the quantities or capacities involved reduce the risks. Facilities of this type are not subject to specific controls.

The purpose of filing a declaration is, on the one hand, to inform the authorities of the company's existence and, on the other, to present the process and identify potential risks and preventive measures. On return of the file, the manufacturer receives a declaration receipt.

Within the system of installations subject to declaration (D), there is a classification system for installations subject to periodic inspection (DC).
