Taste perception is ensured by specialized cellular structures: taste buds. These are found in the taste buds, whose density is particularly high in the lingual epithelium. Taste buds also exist, but in a diffuse fashion, in other tissues including the soft palate, pharynx, larynx and upper esophagus.
