Agriculture, industry and healthcare have long been using gases for a variety of purposes, for their biological, physical and chemical properties. All industrial sectors use them to varying degrees.
The use of carbon dioxide in the manufacture of soft drinks has been known for over a century at both the artisanal and industrial stages, as witnessed by the composition of the recipe of a famous American pharmacist who invented a drink with a strong image, which toured the planet and was sold by a major multinational firm.
It wasn't until the second half of the twentieth century that other applications emerged, thanks to the joint development of industrial gas companies and their customers....
