3. Oxidative degradation of melanin
Melanin can be degraded in a number of ways, most often by oxidation. This is notably the case in hair coloring using hydrogen peroxide H2O2 as an oxidant.
Oxidative degradation of eumelanin by H2O2 has been described by Prota et al.
