2. Material transfer in gas-liquid reactors
When a gaseous species is absorbed into a liquid solution, in addition to transport phenomena within the two phases by molecular diffusion, convection, etc., transfer phenomena from the gaseous phase to the liquid phase occur at the interface. Conditions in the region very close to this interface are very difficult to observe experimentally, so we are often led to use simple fluid mechanics models describing boundary layers in the vicinity of the interface
