This section presents a number of energy-saving techniques for reducing EMC (kJ consumed/kg water evaporated), applicable to convective hot-air drying. However, it should be remembered that drying techniques "other than hot air", in particular those using the "boiling" drying method described at [J 2 453-4] , can, by their very principle, be much more energy-efficient than hot air, and above all enable more complete recovery of drying energy.
