6. Regulation and control of hot-air drying

Objectives
The main aim of dryer control is to ensure a constant water content XP2 = Cte in the final product, in response to fluctuations in certain time-varying drying parameters, such as: the water content of the product XP1 on entry (particularly for products of biological origin, with a "natural" variability of water content, or of DM concentration), the flow rate of the product more or less disturbed by the upstream process, the characteristic dimension L of the product and/or its composition (purity..), the temperature and humidity of the air A0 drawn in externally, etc. The focus here is on continuous dryers.
