Liquefied gases as alternative solvents for green extraction of natural products

The liquefied gas extraction process is a simple one, consisting of a succession of unitary operations (maceration, evaporation, condensation) performed under pressure. However, the use of these particular operating conditions generates specific risks for operators, products and equipment. The identification of hazards is the first step in many risk assessment methods, both for the consumer with the HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) method, and for operators with the HAZOP (HAZard analysis and OPerability) method.
