Tritiogenic contribution

Production of tritium in the atmosphere due to cosmic radiation or as a result of human activities, which may be military in nature (nuclear bomb explosion) or civilian (nuclear reactor). The emitted tritium ( ³ H) is then produced by radioactive decay of ${}^{\mathrm{3}}\mathrm{H}\mathrm{e}$ with a half-life of 12.32 years.
