4. Electrochemistry applications
On the basis of these properties, we can summarize the advantages of ionic liquids for electrochemical applications as follows:
their vapor pressure is negligible. They can also be used under atmospheric pressure over a much wider temperature window than that used for aqueous solutions;
their electrical conductivity is good;
their range of electroactivity is frequently wider (up to 6 V) than that of aqueous solutions (maximum 2 to 2.5 V in the best cases);
they are thermally stable and not easily flammable either;
