10. Non-polar fluid mixtures
In industrial practice, we deal with fluids that are mixtures of widely varying composition. The problem is to apply the tables of the constituent pure bodies to estimate the thermodynamic properties of the mixture, which is assumed to be chemically inert. We limit ourselves to the case of non-polar fluids. Numerous combination laws exist for calculating the pseudo-critical constants of a mixture. They are empirical and result from numerical tests and comparison with experience. We'll take just one approach, but first let's consider the case of dilute gases.
