3. Enthalpy of combustion

By convention, the combustion of an organic compound is assumed to produce CO 2 (g), H 2 O (l), SO 2 (g); nitrogen and halogens do not burn and consequently release I 2 (s), Br 2 (l), N 2 (g), Cl 2 (g) and F 2 (g).
