1. History of logics
There isn't just one logic, but many that have been introduced over the last two thousand years. A good understanding of these logics requires sufficient prior knowledge of the history of logics, of which the following are a few key elements.
The idea of "demonstrating" a conclusion based on initial premises appeared in ancient Egyptian geometry as early as the 2nd millennium BC, but demonstrations were much more empirical and experimental than conceptually rigorous.
