3. The two dual approaches to Stereology
There are two dual stereological approaches to the stereology of objects that can be considered as a whole .
The first approach consists in: considering the object to be deterministic (i.e. non-random), and investigating it with random geometric probes following a strict statistical spatial design, where probes are generally random, independent and isotropic (Isotropic Uniform Random (IUR))
