2.1 Principle: cyclotron motion and drifts

The motion of a charged particle, electron, D/T ion, α, of mass m and charge q, immersed in a uniform and static magnetic field Bb (where b is the unit vector tangent to the magnetic field line), is composed of a uniform rotation around the field lines, of speed V c (t ), and a uniform translation along the field lines, of speed V || :
