6. Mechanical characteristics
These are the characteristics that allow us to measure the mechanical strength of the bonds.
They are generally measured on bonded assemblies after the adhesive has fully cured.
6.1 Mechanical strength. Adhesion and cohesion
To measure the mechanical strength of an adhesive or bonded assembly, two test specimens are glued together, the adhesive joint is allowed to cure completely, and then a separation test is carried out in various modes.
