1. What's the difference between measurement and control, and why use them?
A measurement is a precise assessment of the magnitude of an element, by comparison with a magnitude of the same type taken as a reference unit. There are a large number of possible measurements, such as :
distance ;
pressure ;
mass ;
flow ;
intensity ;
STRENGTH;
etc.
This is data that can be quantified according to a standard.
Control, on the other hand, validates compliance with the specification, giving a "good" or "bad" result within certain limits. It is rarely quantifiable, but it does provide directly interpretable data on the product's technical value.
