Mediation is a process designed to enable the parties involved to negotiate a way out of conflict. At the end of the process, it is hoped that a calm and efficient working relationship can be achieved. Mediation comes into play when the conflict is already at an advanced stage and the situation is deadlocked. Indeed, if the conflict is just beginning, mediation may be too cumbersome, or even counter-productive.
