8. Mistakes to avoid
Include risk analysis in your planning. During the course of a project, hazards will arise and risks will be identified. Action plans will need to be put in place to limit the effects of these hazards, but they will also require additional tasks or longer lead times.
A good rule of thumb is to allow for float throughout the initial planning period, which will be consumed as the need arises without affecting the final project date.
