When the PMO is integrated into the project, its relationship with the Project Management Office becomes more distant. This is because the "customer" for the PMO's deliverables is no longer the PMO's business manager in the Project Management Office, but the project manager. The challenge for the business manager to whom the PMO reports within the Project Management Office is to adapt to the project's particular operating environment, while continuing to enforce compliance with the methods and tools defined by the Project Management Office.
