6. Assessment of measurement uncertainties
All these evaluations enable us to estimate the uncertainty of a measurement process. During a measurement, various factors come into play (see figure: Synoptic diagram of a measurement process) and mix, around the desired value, their own errors, whether random or predictable, to produce a measurement result, in the sense of the VIM :
