The two main reasons given in the context for setting aside a sample are, first and foremost, one of the essential questions mentioned above: When?
Clearly, this is the key parameter of the approach, since the essence of the problem depends on this simple question: will my sample be representative of what I want to show or demonstrate?
Example 1: Let's imagine you're in the middle of an industrialization process, with a lot of ground already broken, but with results that are far from the target, or with low reliability. What would you gain by keeping a sample? Apart from wasting time, very little. On the other hand, if you've achieved your goal: the results are acceptable (even if you think they could be improved), and all the parameters are identifiable and quantifiable...
