The S-curve

Planning information presented graphically usually takes the form of curves to represent several sets of data. This representation is used for reporting and analysis, enabling the project team to make decisions.

Planning curves, known as S-curves, can be linked to the schedule. They show the cumulative costs (labor and purchasing) over the duration of the project.

Curves can be established for each function (engineering, purchasing, etc.) as well as for the overall project, for a relevant analysis.

To draw up the S-curve(s), all the information must be taken from the schedule, which itself must satisfy the following requirements:
