3. Standard appendices
Appendix A is a purely informative guide to the use of the standard, which should neither add nor remove any requirements. Often, for reasons of simplicity, the terms of the standard may appear too summary. It is to avoid misinterpretation that Appendix A has been designed. The appropriate explanation is given for almost all the requirements of the standard, using the same numbering (preceded by the letter A). The length and detail of the explanations vary greatly according to the complexity of the requirement; for example, the section devoted to significant environmental aspects (A.6.1.2) is very long, whereas the section devoted to emergency preparedness and response is empty!
