2. Basic components
The main structure of lifting equipment, as well as that of its basic and auxiliary equipment, is made up of one or more frames.
They are mainly made of steel and can take two different forms:
welded sheet metal ;
made of welded profiles.
These two construction methods are sometimes combined in certain frames.
The qualities and characteristics of the steels used vary according to the environment in which the equipment works and the intensity of the activity to which the structures are subjected (load values and their variations, as well as the frequency of loading):
