Consequence of failure

The results of the failure expressed, for example, in terms of impacts on personnel safety, economic losses and environmental damage.

Corrective maintenance

Maintenance carried out after a breakdown has been detected and designed to restore an asset to a condition in which it can perform a required function.

Inspection

Periodic activity used to assess the progress of damage to a component. Inspections can be carried out by technical means (non-destructive testing) or by visual examination.

Maintenance

All technical, administrative and management actions during the life cycle of an asset, designed to maintain or restore it to a state in which it can perform the required function.
