Summary
Operational safety

The purpose of this report was to address the concepts and challenges of operational safety. We have seen that this is a comprehensive concept that cannot be characterized by a single variable, but rather by several parameters that constitute it: reliability, maintainability, availability, and security. We have also shown that these components are not generally completely independent.

• The user or operator should be able to express their needs by reference to these parameters: desired level of reliability or availability, maximum downtime, acceptable level of risk, etc.
