4. Application example for a hydraulic braking system on a motor vehicle
Every motor vehicle has two brakes: a service brake to control the vehicle's speed, and a parking brake to bring it to a standstill. This example concerns a hydraulic service brake. Its content is adapted from a study carried out by Reliasoft, a company which markets RCM software based on the recommendations of SAE JA 1012.
The hydraulic braking system of a motor vehicle comprises a number of different items of equipment, failure of which can have consequences for the safety of passengers and third parties. A hydraulic braking system uses high-pressure fluid to apply force to the brakes on each wheel. The diagram is shown in figure
