The various functions listed above define packaging quality in the sense of value analysis. However, when it comes to selecting a solution, operating costs, investment and development lead times are obviously taken into account. These three parameters can be broken down as follows.
Experience has shown us that not just any cost is acceptable, no matter how well the packaging performs. The costs calculated here must therefore be understood within the acceptable limit of what the market allows, which presupposes that marketing has set a cost objective for the packaging. Beyond the maximum acceptable cost, solutions are no longer acceptable, whatever their qualities.
