Define the subject and the limits of the approach
Design or redesign a product using value analysis

Specify the scope of the approach, including :

• the product concerned and its scope of application ;

• what can or must be handled by the VA, and what you can or must take into account in the VA ;

• any regulatory constraints, standards, etc. concerning the product;

• the project framework (deadline, budget, etc.).

Get to know the project context with :

• existing products (strengths and/or weaknesses, competition, dissatisfaction or complaints) ;

• the issues motivating the project (e.g. defending market share, improving margins, etc.);

• objectives and/or expected results.
