If I find a good solution right from the start, why continue?
The advantage of this method is that it is systematic, so that we don't stop at a first solution and miss out on another that would be better or more optimized. The systematic nature of the method also enhances group consensus on the chosen solution(s).
Isn't there a "light" method?
You can adopt a "partial" approach, for example, by starting directly from a collection of proposals resulting from a customer survey, brainstorming sessions or an idea box (i.e., only carry out phases 4 and 5 of the AV approach as defined in step 1). But you won't achieve the same results, and you risk having to repeat, at least in part, the previous steps to seriously evaluate the proposals...
