5. Mistakes to Avoid

5.1 Do not create too many QMS effectiveness indicators

It is legitimate to seek to use performance indicators to assess the achievement of your QMS objectives so that you can then apply them to other levels of the organization (departments, divisions, processes, etc.).

Overzealousness in this area, as in many others, can be counterproductive, and proposals that lead to an excessive number of indicators should be curtailed. It is sometimes said that a quality approach is an “art of execution,” and if that is the case, as with any art, “Less is more”!
