IATF 16949

Although the risk approach is not new to the automotive standard, IATF follows the ISO 9001 approach and adds the requirement for a "security plan" (see chapter 6.1.2.3). This involves identifying the internal and external risks to resources and infrastructures that could compromise delivery during production, and hence customer satisfaction. As far as the development stages are concerned, FMEA-type approaches are expected for products and manufacturing processes (see "Coretools" chapter, Benchmark 4).
