8. Mistakes to avoid
In standard FD X50-126, it is written that "it is desirable for the figures to be incontestable", i.e. that the costing is carried out taking into account the 0 defect as a reference for each anomaly (and not a number considered as "acceptable" of anomalies) so as to be able to carry out a credible and useful analysis at a later date based on the costs entered.
Our experience suggests, on the contrary, that groups should agree on measurement and calculation methods, and on achievable target levels for each criterion whenever possible. This encourages a greater number of people to take ownership of the process, boosts the progress made and makes the achievement of objectives credible.
