2. What are the prerequisites for implementation?

The implementation of these methodologies is therefore conditional on having :

factors controllable by test personnel;
a measurable response;
test conditions as stable as possible to minimize the influence of uncontrollable factors.

This may seem obvious, but be sure of the process (or processes) on which you'll build your experimental design, and the response you expect.

Example: improving granularity

You want to obtain a "smooth" part, so the granularity will be low: you therefore want to MINIMIZE the response.
You want to obtain a part with a high degree of relief, so the granularity will be important: you therefore...
