6.1 Don't confuse procedure, process and operating mode
A process is a set of activities designed to transform input elements into output elements (e.g. manufacturing a compliant product). A procedure, on the other hand, generally describes a set of tasks to be carried out in order to perform an activity (e.g. managing measuring equipment). Finally, an operating procedure specifies in detail how to carry out the various operations making up a task (e.g. calibrating a scale).
