Yes, traceability is a strategic issue, at least in the development phase. After that, it may be a functional issue, or even an operational one in the management and control phases. But nothing can be done without a strategic analysis of traceability needs and a traceability strategy. Product traceability is not an end in itself for a company, but it is becoming a "barrier" to market access, and at the same time a new criterion for differentiation. Every company needs to realize that traceability is not just a vague concept demanded by anxious consumers, but an important feature of their offering, outside of any crisis. Manufacturing a product or providing a service now includes aspects of traceability, both internally and externally, which means that traceability must be seen as an intrinsic component of the company and its offering.
