1. Traceability is not just an operational issue

Implementing a traceability system entails profound changes to production organization, whatever the sector concerned. Unlike some other approaches, where the introduction of a traceability system leads to the development of a new service in connection with existing ones, in this case, implementing a traceability system means asking all the members of a structure to carry out additional work, namely traceability actions. So it's almost natural for a manager to assess his or her traceability needs at the most technical level. Questions will then arise: how to identify products, how to record manufacturing history, etc.? A traceability system can therefore be seen as a set of technical questions and issues at the operational level.
