3. Conclusion
The successful design of rail vehicles asks for good understanding
of the system, high technical competences and wide experience on the
field as well as appropriate and advance simulation models, tools
and methods to be used during the different design phases. Figure

illustrates the main
railway dynamics activities within the whole engineering design process.
At the center there are modeling and simulation activities : the simulations
are widely used and play a fundamental role on the design, having
different roles during the development phases. In concept design,
