4. Other cell materials
The MHP absorbs sunlight and generates excitons and free charges. These must be collected and transported to produce the photocurrent. This collection and transfer of charges is carried out by materials whose optical and electronic properties must be perfectly suited to and complementary with those of the hybrid perovskite.
These electrodes must be transparent and conduct electricity well. Generally, the cells are fabricated on glass substrates coated with a layer of transparent conductive oxide (TCO). The oxide layer must have a transmittance greater than 80% and a conductivity greater than 103 S/cm to ensure good electronic conductivity and minimize the ohmic drop. This oxide is either fluorine-doped SnO2 (FTO) or indium tin...
