Managing research projects

As R&D requires substantial financial resources, it is not exempt from evaluation. However, evaluating research remains a challenge. It is an intellectual activity, positioned far upstream in the innovation process, and therefore difficult to judge. Finally, it is by its very nature highly uncertain, since its aim is to provide the company with knowledge before it is known whether this knowledge can really be mastered.

You'll need to put in place simple (to be effective) but multiple (to be relevant) systems. You can draw on the following practices.
