6. Falsification

6.1 Legal definition of falsification

Article L 213-3 of the French Consumer Code stipulates that the following penalties shall apply:

  • 1) "those who adulterate foodstuffs for human or animal consumption, medicinal substances, beverages and agricultural or natural products intended for sale ;

  • 2) those who display, offer for sale or sell foodstuffs for human or animal consumption, beverages and agricultural or natural products that they know to be adulterated, corrupted or toxic;

  • 3) those who display, offer for sale or sell falsified medicinal substances;

  • 4) those who display, offer for sale or sell, with knowledge of their intended purpose,...
