Introducing eco-materials
Eco-design as a designer

As a designer, you're used to considering the use of new materials combining qualities such as resistance, aesthetics or feel. When it comes to eco-design, however, you need to take into account other selection criteria, such as :

• distance covered by materials (to be minimized) ;

• renewability of materials (to be increased) ;

• energy stored by materials from extraction to finished product (to be minimized);

• emissions and waste during extraction and production (to be minimized);

• the fraction of recycled material in the product (to be increased) ;

• recyclability of materials used (to be increased).
