In principle, an aesthetic creation is an object whose characteristics are subject to subjective appreciation and whose purpose is not technical. Such creations may be protected by copyright and/or design law (see Design protection in France
[FIC 1606]
).
That said, it is not uncommon for the technical and aesthetic aspects of a creation to overlap, for example when a technical object has an aesthetic character (e.g. a vehicle headlight), or when a technical method is used to achieve an aesthetic result (e.g. a painting process)....
