6. Mistakes to avoid
We sometimes see an "unbridled" use of the matrix where inventive principles are simply used as "random" triggers. Although such an approach will certainly help you to come up with ideas in quantity, by doing so you lose all the interest of a TRIZ approach which aims to reduce the number of concepts to the most inventive and relevant of them (those which resolve a contradiction) and you come closer to the results of simple brainstorming.
